Archives for posts with tag: Video Games

We’re back, and with a website now! http://mewsquare.com/ is now open to the public. It is a separate project of mine that is parallel to this one, and this one will remain online for archival purposes. All posts and scans will remain here for public consumption, but from this day forward, all new posts will be on MewSquare.

It’s been a long, winding road for me as a writer of this blog. I had to take a break from it to attend to my life properly and to straighten all of the loose ends. The new website is the personification of that, but with hopefully a higher standard of content, appeal, and integrity. I love MewMewBox, and I will never, ever take it down. Think of this new site as “MewMewBox 2.0”. It will have monthly publications with packages of reviews, content, and much more. With some posts in-between, as well.

Most importantly, thanks to you, the reader, and I hope you’ll continue to check us out at MewSquare!

Capitalism ho!

How does one describe Recettear? Is it an RPG? A merchant sim? A hentai, even? Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale takes place in a fantasy world, but the dungeon crawling and monster slaying is left to adventurers you hire. The real draw of the game is it’s Animal Crossing-like appeal wherein you have to pay off your mortgage; the difference is you have to pay it in increments every in-game week, and if you don’t pay up you go on a cardboard box adventure and become homeless.

Currently, as this is being written, I have 13 hours logged into the game, it’s not a lot but it’s more then enough to summarize the game-play and tell you my feelings on it’s strange approach to the world of JRPGS.

This new year is already looking up, and while a lot of it can’t be described with words, it feels like a fresh start. It feels as if it were the absolutely best time to develop friendships, to travel and adventure with the people who matter most to you. It’s going to be a grand year, for technology, people, anime, manga, movies, video games, politics, and so many other possibilities.

Recently, I started realizing how important MMXI would be to me, it is quite literally a turning point in my life. For the first time I’ve had a bed that I comfortably sleep in, I have a working computer, a working cell phone, reliable friends and strong, lasting friendships from a few years back. I have so much to be thankful for and I’m thankful every day to have these things. Some people who until recently were disassociated with my life are returning to it, and things couldn’t be better. I am just becoming a more content person and I absolutely love this feeling.

I wonder if Notch is going to update Minecraft soon…

Anime Day 3 is being held at Arcade In A Box this year, but with a new twist: It’s an all-nighter Anime extravaganza. From 10:30pm New Years Eve to 7:00am New Years day, there will be nonstop anime, video games, board games, pizza, snacks, soda, and so much more. There is an occupancy limit of 40 people so register as soon as possible at Smart Events. I am going and I will be taking photos and spending time with some friends of mine. I hope to see you there!

Hope to see you there

My name is Yumi, and I’m happy to see you’ve found my blog. I am a peculiar person and I love Anime, Manga (Shojo, Light Novels), Video Games, Japan, Random Encounters, and computers. (Kittens too.) I tend to focus on life and keep things happy by balancing the things I like and exploring my surroundings. I generally spend an evening at my desk either playing games or watching Anime, writing about things, talking to people, or downloading various things.

Although I rather seem to spend a lot of time reading, I still seem to find time to sit back and reflect on the goings on in my life and I hope to somehow place that here… I’d like to get to a point where I can review and discuss the things I like with you all who also like them, and hopefully even contribute or help people make decisions. Thanks for reading, come back soon.

So sleepy...
